The Intelligent Emergency Call guarantees fast, targeted assistance round-the-clock as well as support from trained staff – in the driver's native language, even when they're abroad. If an accident takes place involving the activation of an airbag or the belt tensioners (for example), the system automatically issues an emergency call. Relevant details such as the exact position of the car, the severity of the accident and the possible risk of injury to occupants are transmitted to the BMW Call Centre via the car’s built-in SIM card, i.e. independent of a private mobile phone. The BMW Call Centre will inform the nearest rescue coordination centre and provide assistance over the phone until the rescue services arrive. The emergency call can also be triggered manually in case other road users require help, for example.

The myKidio App by Deutsche Telekom and TV Spielfilm offers a unique in-car entertainment solution for families with children, which is based on the user's personal end devices instead of permanently installed equipment: tablets and smartphones.
With the app installed on the end devices, the parents choose the media or the children choose for themselves from a selection of child-appropriate content: quality films, audio books, documentaries or exciting television shows. Via the vehicle's iDrive Controller and Control Display, the parents have control over their children's media consumption at all times. They can monitor the media being played in the Control Display, select new content and interrupt the playing. The Kids' Cockpit shows the current speed, estimated arrival time and similar information, making the time fly for children.
The programme is drawn from an extensive database and is presented to the children in the rear seats on iPads, which are attached to the headrests of the seats ahead with the Travel & Comfort System from Original BMW Accessories. When the myKidio channel is turned on, new content is constantly loading in the background, so that there is always enough entertainment during the drive.

Hardly have time to read? Audio books are an answer that are constantly attracting more enthusiasts – among other reasons, because they allow drivers to enjoy literature while in the car. With the Audible app for the iPhone (available for a fee), over 150,000 audio books and spoken-word titles are available for download.
Audible offers the terrific opportunity to make the best of the commute with a good book. On long trips, children's books keep the little ones' boredom at bay, and for adults, literary fare provides a welcome change to music.
To use this certified "BMW Apps ready" in the BMW, just download it from the App Store, connect the smartphone by USB or the snap-in adapter and start the app. Immediately, all of the app functions can be operated comfortably and safely with the iDrive Controller and the Control Display , and the audio books are played over the car's audio system.

For anyone who has ever wanted to know what it is like to have their own personal butler, here is the chance: with Concierge Services from BMW ConnectedDrive. At the push of a button the driver is connected with a BMW Call Centre agent who acts as their ""personal assistant"" on the road.
From a particular restaurant to the nearest cash dispenser or an emergency pharmacy – the BMW Call Centre agent is there to help and can even send information directly to the navigation system. Concierge Services operate independently of the driver's mobile phone and are available in their home country and abroad, around-the-clock, seven days a week and at no extra cost.
This option is only available in conjunction with ConnectedDrive Services.

Real Time Traffic Information (RTTI) provides the most up-to-date traffic information at all times. Precise details about the location and duration of delays is transmitted, in order to keep the driver informed, nearly in real time, about the current traffic situation on motorways, country roads and on many routes within the city. Intelligent alternative route suggestions help the driver reach their destination as quickly and efficiently as possible. The data is drawn from such sources as anonymous movement profiles from the GPS data of vehicle fleets, smartphone apps and police reports, and also takes into account established traffic patterns such as peak commute times.
The traffic information is clearly presented, with the roads depicted in green, yellow, orange and red.
